Robert Fairhead@Roobiefox, are you using a Mastodon app on your phone or tablet, or the desktop browser version? Because I've found the latter is easier to navigate, especially when you "Enable advanced web interface" in your preferences.

Toby Phillips@Roobiefox if you know the handle of the person you are searching for, you should be able to put them in the search box. If they are on another server, you need to write out the full handle eg. @[email protected]
If you are searching for people from Twitter but don’t know their handle. Go to https://debirdify.pruvisto.org and connect it to your Twitter, it will scan the bio of everyone you follow and add handles.

Neil Cameron@toby @Roobiefox Toby, I think debirdify really only works if the person on Twitter includes their Mastodon details in their Twitter handle, e.g. in my case "Neil Cameron 📷 🤪@Option1[dot]aus[dot]social"

@Option1 @Roobiefox yep, that's right – it can only identify people by scanning their twitter bios for mastodon accounts
MsPraxis@Roobiefox find people, even one person, you know from the bird site. Have a look at who they follow. No, and you are bound to find familiar names. I strongly recommend using the app Metatext if you have an iPhone/iPad as it’s a very familiar looking interface. not very good and viewing it in. A browser can be a bit glitchy. You’ll get there!
