I realized I totally forgot to share my Japanese #music obsession #playlist

~3 years ago I started exploring some of the artists from my favorite anime OPs and EDs. It led to a huge rabbit hole that I still haven't climbed out of.

There's so much genre blending happening over there that's missing from the west.

Here's my playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1qp2kWRqMd77nsVXr2jG5um4DpMWNn5Y

NOTE: I have YouTube Music Premium & some HQ tracks aren't available without it; search YouTube for them instead!

Favorite artists: Polkadot Stingray, Zutomayo, Yorushika

@neatchee Just discovered Polkadot Stingray, love their vibe. My faves are Wagakki Band, Nemophila, and Asterism
#JRock

@PiggyInSpace I will check them out for sure!

I'm super into the jazzy-funky style Polkadot Stingray has. Anything in that vein will be instantly added to my playlists heh.

Not sure if you're also an anime nerds but if you are check out our anime/etc Mastodon instance! https://urusai.social

@PiggyInSpace @neatchee I've to second this. Wagakki Band by far one of my favorites 😊😊
@neatchee nice....got Spotify so checkin em out.

@neatchee

Usually the language Barrier is something that keeps me from enjoying Japanese music.

Playing alot of Taiko no Tatsujin over the last two years has made me appreciate Japanese Pop/Rock alot more even with the language Barrier.

Before this I only listened to a select few Bands like GitoGitoHustler, Electric Eel Shock or MikaBomb.

My most recent discovery I really enjoy listening to is Sheena Ringo which I discovered on a used MiniDisc I've bought a while ago.

@Blowfish it's funny, I sang a cappella for years so I became totally normalized to lyrics as "sounds" ("dum dum doo bop" etc). As a result I've always cared more for the musicality of the words than their actual meaning heh

I'm gonna give those artists a listen. Always love checking out new music

@neatchee
Haha everyone's got their own perspective and way to listen to music huh?

I was fairly surprised when Sheena Ringo was actually singing German in a track that's based on a German Poem. So yeah you never know what you'll get 😉

A fair warning: Only Sheena Ringo is a prim and proper musician. The others I mentioned are more from the raw and rocking side of things.
Feel warned if that isn't your thing.

@Blowfish I love technical musicians as much as I love classic rock and everything in between so I'm looking forward to seeing the range!
@neatchee I see that we have similar taste in Japanese music
@loisvel hell yeah. The jazz influences are my favorite. So so good
@neatchee
I got interested in the crazy songs and videos of Momoiro Clover Z.
