Original art from #Alabaster, a comic I drew in 2012. Written by #CaitlinRKiernan, it centered on a tormented monster-slayer and her ghostly, mocking shadow-self.

I snuck in that wolf whistle in panel 4, a gag that emerges from character but relies on a tool unique to comics. Pictorial word-balloons are a weird artifact, but at the right moment, they’re irreplaceable.

Seeing the gag work gave me the courage to do a lot more of that sort of thing on my next project. (Cont)
