It's hard to overstate how much fuel the failure of the DOJ to hold the former WH occupant accountable for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection & theft of classified documents (among others) causes the MAGA crowd to aggressively assert he's done nothing wrong. That is: No charges=No Crimes.

I agree.

I believe appointing the former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court as Special Counsel is a good sign.

The operative term in Garland's press conference today was "quickly."

The US legal system is distorted by the US insurance industry and a failure to separate criminal courts from civil courts so the backlog insurers use to wait out their customers impacts the whole judicial process.

This is compounded by the DOJ's commitment to policies that fall under what I think of as "quitters never lose" that leads to institutionalized timidity that is not conducive to swift justice.
