Dušan MitrovićIs Mastodon really that hard for non-technical people to figure out or do people just dislike having to learn new things? Is it really that confusing that there's no single "mastodon.com" website? It seems to me that people don't want to invest 10 minutes into actually reading up on what federated social media is all about.

@dusnm Software engineer here and I had to spend 15 minutes figuring it out. I think your avg Joe has no idea about federal servers. So in that regards is confusing. People just want to sign up and go on about their day. Can people learn? sure but it will take some time.
Also your typical joe is used to the algorithm so another thing to overcome. Can people follow topics here?
@thefern With the most recent update you can now follow hashtags. I guess that counts as following topics. Just search for a hashtag and in the top right there should be a button to follow it.
