I was on the train for some hours today, and took the time to start reading Beyond #Interdisciplinarity by Julie Thompson Klein.

An absolute banger of a book so far. I cannot recommend it enough, and I am impatient to dig back into it tomorrow.

If this work, or this topic, is something that appeals to you, then give a follow or a hello.

We will have to be proactive to build new communities here!

Thanks. I’m intrigued. I started my teaching career at an interdisciplinary university. I was in a humanities department closely affiliated with social sciences. Unique to say the least. I started writing on G.H. Mead during this period.

A pleasure. The institutional-pedagogical intersection is certainly a curious, hairy thing.

I don't work directly in philosophy in a disciplinary sense, but seeing your work and interests makes me think that I should add a group to this round-robin:

@pragmatism

Cheers!

@JClarkPowers @interdisciplinarity @communications @sociology @linguistics @politicalscience JTL’s work is fascinating. We’ve engaged with it in some depth in our #Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning group @ Birmingham which is led by Liberal Arts and Sciences colleagues 🤗 #LibArtSci

Her work is indeed fascinating. It is a new perspective for me (in that my own work is concerned more with methodological issues internal to @communications writ large). I'm excited to be learning about the lines of work on institutional/pedagogical aspects!
