it's over

@dankwraith

it's very very funny. but i also think this stuff is a bit overstated.

EVERY employee in the the history of time has believed that they'll exit a business and it will be reduced to smoke and rubble in about sixteen minutes. and granted this is an extreme case and shit will go wrong -- but we're still on the receiving end of it being overstated in some fashion.

@cicatriz_jdr in most cases i would agree with you but here they are really just turbofucked. twitter isn't a wordpress site, it's an enormously complex system that has been built up over the course of more than a decade to tolerate huge variances in server load. with this little remaining manpower even if you understood how all the moving parts fit together, which nobody does, you would even still struggle to fix it once it starts falling over just because of how much shit there is
@dankwraith @cicatriz_jdr Yeah I think the big difference here is individual vs collective effort. 50% of a workforce is a very different impact than if I just told my manager I was gone tomorrow
@dankwraith @cicatriz_jdr Also even if it's fake, Twitter basically runs on Tinkerbell logic so it's in my best interest to insist that it's dead.
