I think us newbies are all making it up as we go along.
I have found that many system people and well experience people put out posts every now and again and for me they have such useful reads on how to do things.
A couple of lessons I have learnt.
People are serious about content warnings (this is a little icon with either CW or ! in a shield that covers your message and you put the topic on top. If in doubt us the content warning is my advice.
Secondly, and wonderfully, people here are also serious about accessibility. If you load an image people are expected to describe the image for blind people. I have found a bot that reminds me, and if I forget another bot that tells me politely I have mucked up and you can delete the post and repost fixing the assessibility issue.
Finally, I have just been following people in my local and federated feed; so many new and unique people to follow.
