TIL I learned two interesting things about Halsted Ritter, the author of the 1931 "WASHINGTON AS A BUSINESS MAN" (guess what his thesis is?):

1) He was a Coolidge-appointed federal judge who was *successfully* impeached by a New Dealer congress in 1936

2) HE WAS THE BROTHER OF MARY RITTER BEARD.

(Yes, the historian. Yes, the historian married to Charles Beard, who famously argued that the Constitution was an inside job favoring financiers.)

Mary Ritter Beard's daughter, Miriam Beard, was also a historian, and she continued the family fixation onward, too.

Seven years after her uncle's book appeared, Miriam published _A History of the Business Man_ (New York: The Macmillan Company, 1938), https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/001123639.

And how does George Washington show up in Miriam Beard's book? Pretty close to how the rest of her family's histories depict him:
Anyway this is more proof that the 20th-century actually only contained 200 people, all connected, just like the 19th-century.
