I see Mastodon is straining under the load of new arrivals today. I would encourage those folks to be patient. It will get better. This is a decentralized network run by volunteers and not a $44 billion dollar corporation (on the verge of imploding).
@jockr since when has #twitter been worth 44 billion?
@jimmyrayreid
Never, but the man paid what he paid. 😂
@jimmyrayreid @jockr Banks seem to have estimated Twitter at 8 billion: https://twitter.com/BamaBonds/status/1590801975339540480

@jockr Join a smaller instance and you'll likely not see straining. It's tied to being on the biggest instance.
@dx Yes, I'm planning on setting up my own instance at some point but I'm not overly bothered by the slowness right now. Saw it during the last 'wave' but it improved radically in the days afterward. I expect some folks arriving for the first time might be dismayed, which is why I made that post. I ran debirdify again this morning and see that my Twitter followers have branched out (to different instances) significantly since the earlier wave. Loving Mastodon. 👍
@jockr the other place is also struggling today...
@tsh2 I noticed that. The first time I've seen that in many years. I guess that's what happens when you lock the employees out (at least those that are still there). 🤷
