Might I chime in? Unless you want to have a separate account on another server (for privacy or professional reasons) you don’t need to sign up to join them. Just go to these links and if they’re set up right by their admin, you can browse public posts and sometimes view their lists of members. As you follow members in other instances, their local community becomes “federated” and linked to your reach and your feed.
