I would not like to put a cat amongst the pigeons but I was always wondering. Just a simple poll:
to sleeve
36%
not to sleeve
64%
Poll ended at .
So far I am pretty surprised with the results. I thought it will be more of a half/ half situation.
@qubus there's a few exceptions for highly-shuffled cards, but I almost always would rather cards be unsleeved. There's been more than one time that I've received a sleeved game in a trade / second-hand and went through the effort of unsleeving everything!
@ofdiceandmen @qubus Same here, I unsleeved Odin and Key Flow e.g. after getting them second hand. But especially highly-shuffled cards I would never sleeve. I absolutely hate to shuffle sleeved cards.
@pinkus68 @qubus oh, I actually don't mind shuffling sleeved cards, I find they mush together quite nicely. I've sleeved 7th Continent's action cards as an example; they'd be hard to replace and get shuffled often. If I played my other deckbuilders more I'd likely sleeve those too.
@qubus Big fan of sleeving over here — at least for smaller card games. In part because it means we can play while eating and just not worry to the same degree we might otherwise.
@qubus you know it depends …
- Lots of handling/shuffling (like deck-builders): sleeve
- Lower quality print particularly with dark ink right to the edge: sleeve
- White borders and decent quality: no sleeve
- Like the game very, very much and intend to play it hundreds of times but know in your heart it’ll never be more than twenty times: sleeve
@qubus A tough question. While i like the feel of playing with unsleeved cards, it feels more relaxing to play with sleeved cards in games with a big number of cards (Terraforming Mars, Ark Nova, Wingspan). Specially for Terraforming Mars and Wingspan, some cards are coming from the other end of the world so it feels good to know that they are protected.
@qubus I like shuffling sleeved cards more plus then I don’t have to worry about young kids around cards that may be difficult to replace. Games that are readily available and not expensive don’t get sleeved though.
