The media missing the story again

The story isn’t trump. The story is the historic win for democrats – and democracy – at the state level

Dems took both chambers in MN and MI. Dems haven’t had control in MI since 1984! PA looks to be a dem majority. AZ rejected an insane election denier for governor. We can finally institute laws to save our vote, laws we almost lost when conservatives went after state control after the Obama admin

The GOP has shown it’s true face and it’s one of fascism.

@flexghost Democrats kicked all kinds of ass in New Mexico as well from what I've seen.
@CoachMark that’s a huge surprise too
@flexghost
Really great points. The mainstream media loves to dump on the Dems when they do well — and even go as far as falsely equating them to the GOP in some twisted idea of “neutrality.” Anyone who’s being honest knows that one party is full of authoritarians while the other works on governing.
@DMcKibbins the part where you mentioned everyone knows their party is full of authoritarians hits hard. R voters know. When I hear them interviewed (esp the women) I’m dumbfounded at their disregard for their fellow people

@flexghost
They’re thinking “I love America so much that I hate what it’s become.” Repubs get irrationally scared that the country is out of control and then start considering extreme countermeasures. I’m worried about political violence becoming more and more common over the next election cycles. R’s rely on fear and other base instincts to get their voters amped up.

It’s scary to see how comfortable with violence people can be as long as it’s “the other side.” So much out-group vs. in-group.

@DMcKibbins they can’t fill that in with more details than “pronouns”

@flexghost They don't want the true story. They want ad revenue.

I grew up in MI, and am now thrilled to have been able to cast my vote in AZ this month, and was called 'nuts' by bunches for saying that for this mid-term election (looking ahead to 2024) I stewed more about Sec/State races than anything else.

@JulieNye @flexghost
It was glorious to see so many election deniers go down in defeat in Secretary of State races!

@JulieNye @flexghost

I also wanted to thank you for your work as a service dog trainer. Were they guide dogs by any chance?

@CoachMark @flexghost No guide dogs, though over the years I had close working relationships with guide-training schools. (Co-op w/litters, puppy-raising, etc). Our school's focal points were training dogs to assist with (1) mobility impairments (2) families needing strategies for young children with autism. I lasted a little more than 30 yrs, but finally threw in the towel. Whole book coming next year on the 'why/wherefores.' The dog in my profile pic is a 9th generation graduate.
@JulieNye Thanks for sharing. I work for a guide dog school, hence the question.
@CoachMark Aha! Okay. You would get the issues, then. The ones I worked with were mostly in New York. Not sure it's appropriate to name them here. If your school happens to have German Shepherds and shares through IWDR, you might find "Pogo" in some of their ancestry. That boy got around. 😆
@JulieNye you may know of my "school" because German Shepherds are all we use. We are located in Connecticut.
@CoachMark I do. Yep! Have been a long-term donor for that very reason. I don't think any of Pogo's kids ever went there, unless I've lost track in recent years. But lots very nearby, like Patterson & Yorktown Heights. At the very least, I've found one human on here who understands the dominance of the sable gene! 😂
@JulieNye here's a photo of my ambassador dog, Qadeigh, from several Holiday Seasons ago. She's since crossed over the bridge, but she was the best co-worker ever!

@CoachMark Oh! She is beautiful!!! Absolutely perfect! Always love the head tilt. 😍

@JulieNye she was a wicked smart girl. And a great work and travel companion during our years together. A great ambassador for our org. I miss her daily.
@JulieNye @flexghost I also would have been thrilled to be able to vote in AZ. You were definitely part of the solution.
@bobinepa @flexghost I made it under the deadline wire by just a few days. And it was NOT made easy. That's a story I'll have to tell sometime, ballot drop boxes and all.
@JulieNye @flexghost An election you’ll never forget.

@bobinepa @flexghost For sure!!! And still ongoing. I'm chewing my nails over the Arizona Attorney General. Kris Mayes's lead has shrunk down to 55 today. It's slaying me. I want to scream it to the universe for all those who think they don't need to vote!!!

#Arizona #USPol

@JulieNye @flexghost are the remaining districts going to be kind to her? Wow 55.
@bobinepa @flexghost That's rather a toss-up. It just bounced back up to 94, as of 3:49:07 PM local time. 😬
@flexghost Excellent points presented with excellence worthy of the Second Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in The Field of Excellence.
