The 'login-wall' or whatever it's called that Twitter now also used is so childish af.

I expected nothing less from platforms like Facebook but also Twitter has gone down that road.

They really try to get you signed up in any way possible yikes.

Little note! You can also view everything on thats on Twitter via Nitter!

Nitter
@stux Hasn't it been like this for years? The fact that the home page now gives you the explore is pretty nice and about the only good thing Elon did to Twitter
@stux You could always bypass both the ads and the algorithms simply by reading with a private list instead of your follows. :)
@stux thats always bugged me when I have an account on a website but the homepage is still a sign up link and it takes me 2 more clicks just to be able to login. You'd think they'd prioritise the experience of current users over ease of signup for new ones.

@stux I still seem to be able to read without a login.

If they stop that working then my RSS scraper will stop working and I'll stop reading.

@stux Nitter kende ik niet :) Leuk om te weten.
@stux thanks. Now I will delete my account. Tired of reading nasty stupid comments. The signal/noise ratio is approaching zero, and it's not white noise.
@stux You should give https://feetter.r3d.red/ a try! You can create feeds and browse them via nitter.

@stux Until I discovered Nitter, I used a bypass login wall extension. It sucks that sometimes NASA pictures take forever to be released outside of their twitter accounts.
@stux "childish" is right!
@stux I’ve been using selfhosted instances of Nitter, Invidious, Teddit, and RSSBridge -> Miniflux for ages to follow people still on “legacy” social media platforms via RSS. Here’s hoping they move to the Fediverse!
@stux That's useful to know! Is there anything similar for Instagram?
@stux thanks, i will look at nitter - i often lurk on twitter via ..../explore page but login page does pop up unless i clear cache and use vpn so #nitter looks worth investigating
Thanks again
