So, we've introduced ourselves, and are posting beautiful photos and interesting comments. But I came here in the hope that it might become a place for meaningful conversation. For discussions that aren't combative and everyone involved gains from that openness. While I have topics I'm more interested in than others, at this point I'm just curious if anyone else would be keen to do this?

@momenta I'm all for this. I really hope Mastodon will show people that the exchange of ideas and beliefs is in fact, a perfectly healthy thing. We don't have to agree on everything, but it's the ability to respect another after we disagree that traditional social media has messed with in my opinion. I hope this isn't something that Mastodon loses as it grows.
@JesseF8693 Exactly. The need for agreement tends to end up creating echo chambers and conflict with anyone who isn't the same. Welcoming discussion can enhance all involved. It used to be possible in forums online, I had some amazing conversations and knew some incredible people (a few of whom I still know) but that largely vanished with the attention economy demanding a desperate desire for popularity rather than an explorer's attitude.
@momenta I care less about popularity and more about finding an audience which is receptive to learning about me and the disability community. We don't have to agree on everything. Frankly, I don't agree with some things in the disability community, but what works for one person might not work for me, what works for me might not work for someone else and vice versa.
