Remember that in #Scotland land could not be left in a will until 1868 (there was a separate process for inheriting that). Summaries of court hearings for wills/testaments court hearings from 1876-1936 are in the Calendar of Confirmations & Inventories, known on Ancestry as the 'Scotland, National Probate Index' - although 'probate' is an English term, the process here is 'confirmation'! #genealogy
