So today in my 8th grade modern history class we reenacted the Congress of Vienna. My kids accomplished more than the real one did in 1814, but they couldn't agree on what to do with the Low Countries and Austria's former possessions conquered by France. Collective security also flopped. #histodons #teachers
@seanmunger how cool! I had so little knowledge of this and only recently saw a #HistoriaCivilis episode on the topic

@b_cavello Thanks! It took some doing to design a game that simulated the Congress and could be played in an hour, LOL.
@b_cavello And if you like history YouTube, my channel is not large but I work hard at it. https://youtube.com/@SeanMunger

@seanmunger this is an amazing idea! I hope your students realize how lucky they are to have you as their #history teacher.

Now tell us more about this game!

@Murfman I create roles, all real people (Metternich, Talleyrand etc.) and assign them to the kids randomly with character cards. There were delegations from all the major powers. I gave them four issues to solve: France's territories, what to do with Germany, who rules Spain, and a comprehensive peace treaty. Each country staked out a position on each issue. Then they negotiated. Character cards coach them with secret suggestions and agendas. Results are unpredictable!
