After losing the Senate last week because they are wholly out of touch with the American people, 37 Republican Senators just voted to criminalize interracial marriage.
It's 2022 and interracial marriage is a bridge too far for MAGA GOP.🤦🏽♂️

the Republicans are nightmarrish bigots, but to clarify 37 Republicans voted against the Respect for Marriage Act. The act adds federal protection for equal recognition of same-sex and interracial marriages between states.
Voting against this suuuuuucks but it's not the same thing as voting to criminalize interracial marriage.

The bill doesn't address criminalization; without it, it would allow states in the absence of Loving to not recognize those marriages, not arrest people for being married.
Also, the bill includes same-sex marriage, so we don't know what the numbers are without it.
For example, if there were a bill to feed the homeless and eliminate public schools, saying that voting against it is "voting against feeding the homeless" would be dishonest.
