Liked Claire Denis' STARS AT NOON very much; a languid neo-noir that explores the (personal) limits & (geopolitical) limitlessness of the power of whiteness, through the romance of two entitled and lonely 'expats' in pandemic-struck Nicaragua desperate to leverage that power for survival and companionship.

An intriguing sense of their romance as a veil over yawning emptiness, Margaret Qualley playing Trish as an erratic wannabe manic pixie femme fatale out of her depth yet buoyed by her whiteness. In the background, an apocalyptic game of powers (with the spectre of the United States at the head of the table) gambling on the fate of nations and peoples battered by the debt incurred by that game--endless rain, heat, plague.
