Finished a book last night that I mostly loved. Loved the storytelling and the characters but it was such a mess grammatically and had so many incorrectly used and over used words that I don't know if I would read another by the author. I eventually had to start highlighting issues just so I could get my thoughts about them out of my head.

I get self-publishing is tough and can be expensive but editing and proofreading are important for a professional work.

@cheri @bookstodon I usually end up not finishing books full of dreadful grammar and proofreading. Even if the storytelling and characters are good, I get too distracted by the errors. A few errors are more or less routine in these days of self-publishing, so I take them in stride. But a book with mistakes in every paragraph gets set aside.

@kitsyn @bookstodon I'm exactly the same way. I tend to live by the motto "life is too short to read poorly written or edited books."

But this story grabbed me and wouldn't let me go. Which is a very rare occurrence.
