It’s a fact that the UK’s #peatlands store more #carbon than all of the forests in the UK, France and Germany combined.

So imagine what could be achieved if we diverted the million of pounds given to grouse moors in subsidies to peatland restoration instead. #COP27

@Beazer there was a raised peat bog right next to where I grew up when I was wee. It had amazing wildlife, skylarks, frogs, newts, birds of prey, and that's just scratching the surface. The council decided to drain it when I was about 10 or 11 and now it just seems like a desert compared to what it used to be like. I would love to see it restored to its former glory.
