Do people even do business cards still, how many should I bring to my first PAX Unplugged?
@XoeAllred I always think they do not, and then I get asked for one. Safer to bring!
@bethsobel I was thinking of printing like 20, I feel like I'm too introverted to like, need more.
@XoeAllred Oh 20 is great. I probably needed 4.
@XoeAllred I come home from every convention with 5+ cards from others. I get asked for a card almost every time. I keep thinking I should have them but never get around to it. I do think it would be valuable.

@XoeAllred

Can I convince you not to take any business cards at all?

You could -

Look yourself up in your phone contacts - hit share > nearby > and tap the back of someone elses phone.

Or put a qr code sticker on the back of your phone- linking to a vcf file.

If not - then, just fewer, more amazing cards, that people will keep for longer. Fewer than 50?

Globally we produce something like: 32,000 tonnes of them every day.

@Strontelius Yeah, I was thinking no more than a sheet or two of cards printed and cut on cardstock from my personal printer. Wasn't planning more than 20. I really like the idea of a QR code on the back of my phone, I'll have to do that! Thank you!
@XoeAllred A Moo set would be a great solution for this, plus the photo cards with rounded corners look AMAZING

Thicker than your average card, Original Business Cards set a new standard for ā€œstandardā€ business cards.

@bethsobel Oh I was just going to print and cut them myself. I could round the corners myself! šŸ˜†
@XoeAllred i use business cards so much because I'm having hundreds of conversations a show. It just helps.
@theonetar I suspect I won't have that problem, but it couldn't hurt to be prepared!
@XoeAllred yes but do the people that you meet with have that problem?
@theonetar If a person is talking to hundreds of people and I didn't discuss meeting before hand, then I think that is a person I am probably not going to meet. That sounds like enough on their plate and I am much too shy to squeeze myself onto their dance card! But still, that's something I had not considered and another reason to carry some around!
@XoeAllred @theonetar if I may join this conversation—I find business cards immensely helpful for remembering people’s names and where I met them later. I recall the memory of that person much more vividly having the physical object for some reason. I’ve kept the information from a stack of them I got at Gen Con and have used that as my primary contact list going into Unplugged.
@MarcelineLeiman Good context to consider! I should perhaps leave the backs blank for jotting notes then. Maybe I'll print some for the different games I'm bringing in case that's the context of our meeting. @theonetar

@MarcelineLeiman @theonetar

@XoeAllred your website is sharp, well organized, and does a good job of showcasing the variety of games you have. I think you can save a lot of time and trouble by keeping the biz card simple with blank back and something simple on the front:

I like making cool looking QR codes with branded colors and a logo in the middle with the free QR code generator at Unitag.io, but this is an only-if-you-want-to extra. (Just don’t use a QR code *instead of* a written link. It’s pretty common for them to cause tech difficulties for ppl.)

@protospielo Thank you! That is my thinking, something simple with my website and phone number, since that's the only contact info that's not available online. I'll probably have a QR code that I keep separately on my person. @MarcelineLeiman @theonetar

I agree with Heather - that's a brilliant website. :-)

@XoeAllred I typically take 50-100 and get through a decent chunk of them at a busy con like UKGE.
