You can buy #GMO #aquarium #fish that glow in the dark. How about a fish that stares back at you with a human eye? How far are we willing to go? I explored that concept through this #painting.

Despite being banned in Brazil, the genetically-modifed GloFish has been found in one of Brazil’s most threatened biomes, the Atlantic Forest.

I'd be interested to know the conditions that prompted the evolution of an apparent human eye on that fish. At some point, there had to have been a time when not having it (or its precursor) meant nearly certain death.

Possibly. But there are also fish with human teeth. Coincidence? Think of the advantage a creature could have if, with one look or a smile, it could convince a predator that it was a member of a big-brained ape species that hunts with sharp sticks and machine guns.

Resembling Humans

Pro: Makes an animal look like a formidable creature capable of fighting back with tools and technology.

Con: Makes an animal look dorky.

@AndroidAstronomer @JudyHelfrich Aw jeez. I thought for sure that was photoshopped, so I googled it. Nope. It's real. That is sooo freaky. And that sort of mimicry would work on me, because there is no way I would eat that!

Also it does look dorky bahaha
