Polk St is a car sewer and that is why I prefer to be on my bike along it; unfortunately the bike lanes are also full of cars because Polk St is a car sewer. Close this damned street.
@bambipotf@skinnylatte I’m all for bus lanes, but they literally just built them a block west on Van Ness. Just close Polk to cars and keep bikes and the 19.
@bambipotf@skinnylatte Cars have enough better options east and west of Polk. To the east it’s Larkin and Hyde, which are fast one ways from California to Market. West is Van Ness then Franklin and Gough. It really feels like an ideal street to ban cars from!
@fadersolo@skinnylatte do you mean East/West? but yeah i agree! topography matters, it's the least steep math between civic canter and Ft. Mason (that's why they call it the Polk Gulch). it belongs to bikes and pedestrians
@fadersolo@skinnylatte this is my favorite topographic map of SF. wish i could find the creator. Polk is clearly visible, as is the Wiggle and Alemany and many other corridors that should be priority for bike infra
