Not everyone is pleased with the decision to change "toot" to "publish," but many third-party apps are continuing to use the original term for posts anyway.

@taylorlorenz "Publish!" is too generic. When someone "Toot's" or "Tweets" or "Tiktoks" or whatever, we get the whole picture. But "Publish!?" Maybe I did that on Livejournal once, too..

The name mastadon doesn't really lend itself for catchy names.

Mastadon post = most? Naaahh.
Mastadon post = toast? Ejhh.
Mastadon post = most? Nope.

IMHO, toot just sounds like a quiet fart. 🤣😅😂
