@feditips pixeldroid works like a charm. tusky seems to has issues with pixelfed lately.
@Picturavis @feditips It would be cool if people replied with any favorite profile examples others to follow.
@Picturavis @feditips This sounds interesting! Gonna check it out.
@feditips Thanks for the information on the PixelDroid app! Definitely trying that out to see how it works for me.

@feditips @Picturavis

Please make your fedi services work nice with WWW. If not, Google and Apple will dictate fedi features and access.

Web UI has to be first-rate!

@tasket @feditips @Picturavis what do you mean by this? Are you saying that not having `www.`support somehow changes how it's treated by the Google and Apple app stores, or am I misunderstanding?

@lee That's part of it, but I'm referring to a complex social phenomenon where "everything that's worth anything = app". Therefore, there is a steep loss of mindshare for things like websites, URLs, etc. App stores then become the defacto registry and source of identity for network services.

We are close to that kind of Apple-Google duopoly now, gauging by the wave of disapproval against "Linux tech-nerd mastodon" for having the temerity to ask users to pick a site among a list of domains.

@lee I'd urge you to go on Twitter, search "mastodon" and browse what people are saying. Its >80% disapproval and comes from all walks of life.

I believe the #TwitterTakeover has exposed something extremely bad that has been evolving for years, and that the Mastodon migration is a make-or-break moment for the Internet & Web.

@tasket ah I get exactly what you're saying, and re-read your message. I think I might have been over-tired when I first read it.. yeah, that makes sense!
@feditips @Picturavis can we browse pixelfed without creating an account?
@feditips when I go to @Picturavis in Tusky I don't see any posts?
@feditips @Picturavis can you create a user account on Pixelfed via your Mastodon account or do you have to make a separate one?
@feditips @annewalk @Picturavis I tried to create an account on @pixelfed using same email and username as my #Mastodon account. Said an account already existed. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

@annewalk @feditips @Picturavis

I'm brand new here but I think you need to be on a server/instance where Pixelfed is installed. Your current Mastodon server may or may not also have Pixelfed.

I hope some with more knowledge corrects or elaborates.

@Iancylkowski @feditips now we only need one for video-sharing, like ig reels/tiktok
@feditips @Iancylkowski Seemed a bit unnecessary, decentralized social network is mainly designed to avoid censorship. What could we gain from a decentralized instagram?
@feditips @Iancylkowski entering a website without http:// gives a "format not supported error" which clears the other fields in the form. So I strongly suggest not writing a long bio at the same time as entering a website, lest you want to write it twice 🀦
@rodrigweez Thought you might find this interesting.
@feditips so you need to create a separate account over there? πŸ€”
@feditips @Iancylkowski unfortunately following a mastodon account with a Pixelfed one does not show you the β€žText onlyβ€œ posts, neither in the Pixelfed nor in the mastodon app.
@feditips @Iancylkowski thanks. I will try that instead of insta.
