@BrentToderian they must be wrong. Yes, cycling is the most popular means of transportation in NL, but more than half of the new bikes sold in this country are e-bikes.

I suspect most of those are pedal assist. I think it’s been shown pedelecs encourage more cycle use, so even though pedalling is assisted at lower speeds, distances and hours used are greater. It encourages use instead of the car over that critical 5 mile/8km local journey. So people are getting some physical exercise at lower level instead of just sitting in a car.

@BrentToderian @shippers I’m not sure about the net effect. If young people replace their traditional bike for a pedal assist, they get less exercise..
@Tomasso @BrentToderian e-bikers get more exercise than you may think. Still have to pedal them, normally.
@mjr @BrentToderian I have ridden on e-biikes and they require a lot less effort.
