@robpike I don’t think anybody is willing to give up that sweet sweet subscriber count that easily, sadly.
Regulators need to step in.

…or try to get such law adopted where you live 🤷
@robpike Fwiw, GDPR is about EU citizens, wherever they live; a UK shop would assume (most of) its customers are British citizens, so the UK law would apply.
…and yes, no GDPR there for almost 2 years now (and that's without accounting for GDPR compliance which is also rather low/bad).
GDPR applies though if the shop explicitly targets EU citizens (e.g. allows paying in € and shipping in the EU)
