These are ghost ridden lands. The quiet places. Here your grandfather's grandfather still wanders that well trod path, on that familiar journey, as he follows the river home 💚

@Amynearlyknowledgeable I can just imagine my grandfather’s grandfather and grandmother’s grandmother there. One day I will visit my ancestral home. One day. Thank you for putting images to my dreams.
@Amynearlyknowledgeable I love this, very Hookland. Do you think David would be upset, since he isn't on mastadon (yet) if we all started a #Hookland hashtag without him?

Ghost ridden lands
The quiet places
Whispers from too many haunted faces
Catch the ears of passers through
Who turn their heads and look askance
at the fleeting images of ghosts who seem to dance
In and out of sight, of time, of place
Obscuring the memory fogging the mind
so the looking back is hard to find
As you ask
“Did I see?”
“Did I hear?”
But the haunters know
The ghosts remember in the long cold embers of their long cold night

@Amynearlyknowledgeable Makes me think of The Shire, a scene not too far from Bag End, maybe? Tolkien was familiar with thereabouts, wasn't he?

@Amynearlyknowledgeable That is a lovely photo of the Hay Inclined Plane at Coalport. I have only seen it looking down from the top at Blists Hill, where it looks like this.
