#INTRODUCTION I was a lawyer who quit and went to film school where I met my wife and writing partner. I broke in to the business with spec script Slackers and became the go-to sex comedy guy for a minute before I segued into TV. After many ups and downs I got my first series No Good Nick greenlit at Netflix in 2018 and showran it for its 20 episode run. I mostly write and produce half hour TV, but still work in film and animation, and even one hour television.
I’m a big believer in giving back and have been mentoring new writers for years. I founded the monthly Westside Writers Meetup for writers of all stripes and I participate in formal mentoring programs as well as giving advice and support in various forums, including my annual birthday challenge where I read dozens of scripts by mostly underrepresented writers. My philosophy is that there are a lot of great writers but not a lot of great people. Try to be both.
@DavidHSteinberg are your writing fora primarily based on screenplays or are they multi-media?
@thisisjacksmast Screenplays! I work in film and TV only, I’ve never done games or MM.
@DavidHSteinberg Very cool! If you happen to have any slots open up, and you are okay with remote members, I'd love to join. Thanks!
