Visit to #Avebury yesterday. One of my favourite places. Ran out of time to see the House but wondered around the village, saw the church, lovely meal in The Red Lion and of course a walk around the stones. If you've only ever visited #Stonehenge you are missing out.
@Nickyhants I live not far from Avebury and it’s stunning. The house is ok but the real attraction is the stones and the tree. Did you manage to see the old well inside the Red Lion? It’s built into one of the tables
@llwy oh no missed that. I just love the stones and trees and just the overall vibe. You are so lucky to live close. I live about an hour ten away!
@Nickyhants There’s so much around this part of the county it’s definitely lucky to live here. Shame about all the traffic but can’t have it all I guess
@llwy The traffic was crazy. Walked to Paradise cinema in Marlborough (not from Averbury). What a great outdoor area (and food). Lots of great foodie places, walks and shops.... Brilliant place for people to explore.
@Nickyhants if you’re ever back round this way you should try Shearwater (near Longleat) or Midford (the tunnel more specifically)
@llwy oh thanks. I will keep that in mind. Family from Wells and Cheddar, so been to Longleat, Wookey etc many times, but not the tunnel.
