Suggestion: If you want to curate your news intake and, like me, find the perspective of individual journalists interesting, you can check the journa.host local timeline periodically. Great way to find specialized journalists you might even want to follow. cc @adamdavidson
@heidilifeldman I tried to join journo but It never replied. And I heard writingexchange has closed to new members too. But I imagine all the writers flocking from The Other Site is placing some stress on these servers.

For anyone on a different server, here's a page showing recent posts for that server https://journa.host/public

Android users...
If you are using the Fedilab app, go to Reorder Timeline and click the plus sign. This will let you add a new timeline in the app from any server.

Don't know why I didn't think of doing this with journa.host. Thanks for the tip.

@gpetrites
Also for Fedilab users on Android: The app is free and open source software. You don't have to pay the Play Store for it. Instead, head over to https://f-droid.org/ to get it for free. (Also grab the ntfy app to get notifications working.) For me, Fedilab has had the best Mastodon experience so far.

@OwenK Is there a way to do this in a Chrome browser too?
@loisparshley The easiest way to get #Fedilab for free is to download and install the #FDroid app (which involves downloading the APK file from a web browser like Chrome and installing it). Then F-Droid can basically be an additional Play Store -- but specifically for managing free/open source apps. Then you can just install Fedilab and ntfy from there.
@heidilifeldman @adamdavidson Do you know how I can do that from the official app or website? So far I can only get my local and federated timelines in real time/chronological order - I’d love to see all of the posts from those I follow journa.host as they are added - thanks in advance.
@heidilifeldman @adamdavidson Sounds cool, but is this only possible if you have an account on the journa.host instance? I can’t seem to find any way to view this local timeline
@heidilifeldman @adamdavidson Just accessed the document. Very helpful
