Since the Fedi is way more popular now than it has been about 9 months ago I'm curious:

What is your current main operating system?

@Natanox Windows. And wish it was linux (most times of the day... but i'm a lazy fuck)
@NexCarter @Natanox I use steam under Linux. With a little help of https://protondb.com I can even play steam games which aren't official Linux Games.
@NexCarter @Natanox I feel the best solution is a Dual boot. I have a Windows and a Linux SSD. I boot off the Linux because the boot loader will see the windows disk automatically and ask which you want to boot. It's easy. No VM config, no performance issues. Just select which one you want for the purpose of your session and your away
@MajesticTechie @Natanox
Dual-Boot is not an option for me. It's just doesn't work for me. i tried that several times and ended up always booting windows because in case i want to game i do not wan't to reboot my system. That doesn't mean it can't for you. but i won't for me.
@Natanox Linux, but I canโ€™t select multiple options - Linux in my main machine, windows 10 on my surface book and iOS (Iโ€™ll call it a relative of BSD ) on my iPad Pro.
@Natanox had Linux on my old laptop cause it couldn't handle Win 11 properly :D
Now back on Windows, but also using a Linux VM
@Natanox win11 for work, Linux (Fedora) for personal & gaming. Basically the opposite of most people, especially sw engineers!
@gcampax @Natanox Same here, my employer insists I use Win, so I usually RDP to it from my Fedora rig and then use Fedora in WSL. I also hide the taskbar so I can try and forget I'm on Win
@htn @Natanox oh in my case it's actually my choice to use windows! Most of our users are on windows so it's more useful for debugging obscure platform-specific conditions
@gcampax @Natanox Ah that's fair. I'm writing code that will be running on a Linux server so using Win is particularly annoying (also not a huge Win fan in case you couldn't guess  )
@Natanox Daily work driver is linux while for gaming I use Windows in a dual boot system.
@Natanox on my machine, a Mac Mini M1, macOS ๐Ÿ˜€. When at work a nasty Lenovo windows 11 laptop ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ.
@Natanox Living in a Linux-only household since 2020 :P
@Natanox had to put other as i refuse to wote ios. Mac (or windows for work)
@Natanox iโ€™m a Mac user but the prevalence of Linux is refreshing!
@Natanox purely my main is macOS because that's what I use for work. My phone is Android, my desktop Linux, my tablet iPadOS
@Natanox Windows but I do almost everything in WSL.
@Natanox varies depending on where I am and what I'm doing. In work Windows, travelling Mac or android. Home Linux, Mac or android.
@Natanox main work is iOS as I work from my phone. Got @Solus at my trusted 10+ years old thinkpad for home network. Got a @LineageOS on my poco for all the online stuff thingy. No desktop for about 10 years ish. Hopefully this helps. Have a great day
@Natanox Mac, in part because the keyboard layout is the only one I like, but have played in all sandboxes.
@Natanox The government forces me to run Windows :(
@Natanox Windows is my main at work but at home, with Steam Deck, game on Android phone and Nintendo Switch, I rarely turn on my windows PC...
@Natanox I really wanted to use and like Qubes, but unfortunately my system is too advanced for the drivers. I'm considering Linux (Ubuntu or Debian specifically), but several of my work apps don't work on Linux, sady.

@Natanox

Laptop:
Debian 11 + XFCE
Firefox + Thunderbird + Element + Nextcloud-Desktop

Phone:
LineageOS 20
Firefox + K-9 Mail + FluffyChat + Nextcloud + DAVx5

@Natanox All three of those. Also, Android.
@Natanox The result is quite surprising, and encouraging.
@Natanox Linux (Pop!_OS) ... I only play one game, Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO), and I use Steam's virtualization. It's not ideal heheh but it's fine. I'm on a laggy server anyway LOL
@Natanox Android. Mostly use my phone or tab.
@Natanox I run Linux as my main OS. I game on this machine, mainly in steam w/ proton. It have come a long way since I started gaming in Linux. Most often it's just click install, play and it works.
@Natanox tbh my main Os is android if we're doing flight hours
@Natanox I typically prefer Mac, but my HDMI/Ethernet/USB adapter keeps overheating so I'm currently typing this from my desktop PC on Windows. Come to think of it, I might set up a VM or dual booting and see what's new in the world of Linux.
@Natanox I have to say my main operating system is Android, but I do have a desktop Raspberry pi that I run Linux on. I only use it about three times a week.

@Natanox All of them.

Mostly Windows and Fedora tho

ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

@Natanox In the #fediverse it's always the year of *nix on the desktop
@Natanox Alas, I have to use Windows for work and it would just be too awkward to be constantly jumping back and forth across a partition. Otherwise, Linux all the way.
@Natanox
I wonder how many Android users are unaware they're running Linux.
@Natanox Windows on the desktop, usually Linux on the server. But I hear that "Linux will be ready for the desktop next year".
@Natanox I had to go with "other" because i use all of windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android so often it's not possible to call one "main". I only interact with iOS and Linux on work days, so 5 days of the week. The other three I use significantly almost every single day.
@Natanox I personally use Windows, but as a company we run on Mac OS.

@Natanox windows, but I live in an Ubuntu-based WSL.

Then why Windows? Well, I like playing games that are, unfortunately, Windows-exclusive. ๐Ÿ˜„

@Natanox I guess that would be WSL2 for me. Wonder if I should put that down on Windows or Linux.

I am a bit reluctant to run Linux on a laptop (old scars), but mostly it is just easier to have Windows when that is the company standard.

@Natanox Linux, Android, Windows in that order
@Natanox hmmm, that is genuinely interesting ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
@Natanox
Home computer: Linux.
Work computer: Windows.
Phone: Android.

@Natanox
Windows is on the desktop I use daily, and my Deck has the default Arch-based OS which I also like. I used to daily drive Debian and I use that in my web servers.

A bit of a mixed bag there, but at the moment it is Windows.

@Natanox my operating system is biological with some reasoning neurons that largely produce satire.
@Natanox work: MacOS, production: Linux, home: mixture of windows and macOS.
@Natanox obv this app is used mostly by us linux nerds, me btw im using pop os it's cool its chill i like it tbh
