There are online tools for finding out Mastodon addresses of people you follow on Twitter.

I'm not on Twitter so cannot test. However, if you want to try:

🐦 Debirdify
https://pruvisto.org/debirdify

🔍 Fedifinder
https://fedifinder.glitch.me

➡️ Movetodon
https://movetodon.org

Could you let the rest of us know your experiences in the replies?

If you want other people to find you, put your full Mastodon address in your Twitter profile. More info here: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-basic-tips/#WhatsMyAccountsAddress

Debirdify

This is a web app that helps you find out which of the people you follow on Twitter are on Mastodon/in the Fediverse already and follow all of them easily.

@feditips
Fedifinder works great. Used it multiple times so far to find people.
@feditips I tried fedifinder, but it only returned me 4 contacts I was already following. It did not work well for unfortunately.
@AlexSanterne
It probably worked as well as hoped. If folks don't put their Mastodon accounts in their Twitter profiles, there is not a lot the apps can do.
@feditips
@gpetrites @feditips Yeah, for sure. If there is no info, the app can't find it.
@feditips it found 2 accounts in my case, somehow I am not convinced that it is ‘complete’, but it’s a good start!
@feditips
Fedifinder is a real help.
I use it twice a day and transferred about 200 of my followings so far.

@feditips Both worked well for me. Each offers slightly different tools in addition to the basic scan follows / scan followers.

Fedfinder lets you scan any lists you have (private lists in my case), so if you have lists of people you don't follow but read you can search to see if any of them are on the Fediverse.

Debirdify lets you scan blocked and muted lists, convenient if you want to preemptively pull those over as well. It also handles private lists, but clunkier imo.

@feditips i tested fedifinder and it works great.

Yet i tested „Debirdify“ … the result:

@feditips Thanks, I'll give them a try
@feditips I changed my Twitter display name to my Mastodon handle. There are also Tweet Delete services that let you remove all your old content. So I only have a couple of posts on my Twitter account pointing out people can join Mastodon and advertising https://forums.shipoffools.com/ for long form discussion.

@feditips I used fedifinder and it was great! You can export the account you follow, following you and your lists. Fast and easy to use!
@feditips why does it want to take me to Zoom? Do I have to have a meeting with someone?
@feditips Just tried Debirdify for 2nd time and got another goose egg, Plenty of hits with Fedfinder,, thanks.
@feditips haven't tried Fedifinder as of yet. Debirdify simply works.
@feditips how do I follow people who’s addresses I already know? I search for them and there are no results.
@feditips Seems not many people in my twitter sphere have mastodons, but debirdify found one person I follow and one person I muted. Seems to be working well in that case.
@feditips I used fedifinder & it did what it was supposed to but some people are using linktr.ee & some are putting their mastodon name into into a pinned tweet instead of their profile so it didn’t find many. I also have to run it every couple of days to find new people.

@feditips debirdify made it much, much easier to find my mutuals 🙌

Hope they find me back! 🥰

@feditips This was really helpful! It feels great to be rebuilding my networks. Debirdify worked great for me.

@feditips I've had pretty good luck with Debirdify.

Biggest issue is not everyone is putting their Mastodon address in the places it searches for.

@feditips DeBirdify works perfectly for me.
@feditips Thanks for this, but as with almost all the various programs I've seen, tried, had offered, I am unable to successfully use them. I do *not* understand all the talk about the formats, etc., and have never been comfortable with anything other than straightforward english. So...thanks, but as with at least one other friend of mine here, we just live with the limitations.

@feditips I tested debirdify past week, and it successfully found profiles I follow who ad bothered to put their fedi handle in their bio.

Will try again periodically as word spreads.

@feditips debirdify works great and also shows you all kinds of I terestig data about which servers people are on, etc
@feditips I use #Debirdify every few days to sweep up more of my #twitter follows who’ve decided to get set up on Mastodon. works great.
@feditips I used debirdify and found 85 people I follow. I uploaded the CSV to my server here but nothing has happened. Just a message that it would be processed. This was 3 days ago.
@feditips Both need me to give them my birdsite authorisation, instead of allowing to me manually copy paste a list of birdsite users that I am searching for. Shame, for them ignoring my privacy.
@feditips Debirdify has worked perfectly well for me
@feditips I just used fedfinder. I am a small account on twitter, so it wasn't hard for me to follow each by hand, using those I follow. Only about 45 out of 396 had accounts on Mastodon or similar and I had already followed a number of them.
@feditips Works great, although the amount of accounts found here is clearly lacking. A lot more people need to set up links to alternate places of communication.
Guesd they still assume that things calm down over on Twitter, which would be good to have as well
@feditips fedifinder worked as well as I expected it to.
@feditips I've used Debirdify, it works fine, but hardly any of my Twitter follows have the Mastodon address in their bio, so it can't find them. I'm trying to spread the word!
@feditips I used Fedifinder and it worked a treat. It was quick, I appreciated the preview of data, and the data merged correctly.
@feditips I have done it successfully twice! thank you 💐
@feditips These were both helpful, seemed to return the same results. Thank you for sharing! I need to remember to re-run periodically as more people join Mastodon.
@feditips I used the first one and it worked like a charm!

@feditips just tried debirdify.

1. I click Authorize
2. Enter my Twitter account
3. Encounter a white screen referencing Twitter’s API.

I use 2FA but never prompted. Wondering if that’s a factor.

@feditips seemed to have worked for me. Both came up with the same results
@feditips I used Debirdify and can confirm that it does what it says on the tin.✅️
@feditips I couldn't figure out debirdify ... but fedifinder got me quite a few.
@feditips fedifinder found 200+ accounts and I have about a thousand followers on twitter so it's probably reasonly accurate.
@feditips
I tried out Debirdify the other day and it found none of my follows on Mastodon (which was expected given who I follow) and it recognized the two Mastodon addresses listed on my own profile. So my limited experience suggests it probably works as expected.
@feditips both said the page didn’t exist after I did the twitter auth. So I’m not sure what’s going on🤷
@feditips Debirdify worked really well. One tip is to open it in a seperate table and not use the pop-up.

@feditips Useful tool and managed to locate some Twitterfolk using it.

Don't forget, you can also create an "invite" link you can give to people by going to:

Edit profile > Invite people

which, if they use to sign up with, will sign them up on the same instance/server as you and you can tick a box to get them to automatically follow you when they do.

@feditips

@Atarbuck - you may find this helpful. The second one (fedifinder) seems more user friendly, but I think if you give the former a bit of time, it might be more comprehensive.

@feditips works fine for me only a few people I didn't know where on mastodon

@feditips

haven't tried them yet, but THANK YOU!
