I decided to teach myself to knit this year. Bought assorted yarns & needles a few months back to test out.

I've knit (& re-knit) various small samples, trying to work on my technique, but today I actually finished something — almost in time for the cold weather this month. And it fits!

OK, a headband is one of the simplest things to knit. (It's just a rectangle, sewn together at the short ends.) But it took a lot of goes to get the sizing right, and the cast-on and bind-off edges neat.

Yep. The serious knitters make it look so smooth, knitting on conference calls or while they're watching TV! But when I thought I was getting there & able to move fast while not paying too much attention, I looked at my work later and discovered it was an uneven mess. Undo, redo, repeat.

@AmeliasBrain my mom learned (sort of) how to knit last year but she’s never finished anything! Good job on your headband!
