When i teach what a #fatwa is i explain that the silliest headlines are often a kinda #Islamophobic attack on a serious and interesting agument. Example:

When #Mars colonization was getting circulated someone issued a "fatwa against going to Mars". Of course this became everyones example of a stupid fatwa.

But it was a complex and interesting argument: going to Mars had a low chance of survival/success, + wld primarily be an act of hubris rather than genuine discovery.(1 of 2)
