Two days in. My anxiety levels are down and I think it's because the bird site has pivoted slowly, imperceptibly, towards three kinds of content:

Capitalism
Doom
Sarcasm and complaining about capitalism and doom

None of these things is good for your mental health. It's much better for the mind to be in a creative and constructive place where you are learning cool, new things and giving it something positive to chew on.

@spodgod I'm about the same time. And that might mean I am finally done with the Bird Thing.
@spodgod your anxiety level is probably down because you’re not on the bird site. It was built to make you react. Because reaction = engagement and engagement = ad revenue
@spodgod That's why I barely used it, even before the Elongated Muskrat took over. There is only so much doom scrolling one can take before it affects your #mentalhealth.
@spodgod I left the Bird in 2018 through Jan 6. Too much for mental health. Too much gloom doom and attacking. It is was too much again. The day before election I killed my account. My hope is to talk #politics with reasonable people of all realms. We will see. I do like what I’m seeing so far. I sort of hope some of the bigger people there don’t come here and start right back up where they left off.
@spodgod
I agree about the bird. However, this midterm shows that there aren't as many Trump-following and dangerous dingbats around as previously feared. The usual midterm route did not happen
In fact, we could yet win an infinitesimal margin in one or both houses. Even if not, we can still look at these few losses as a psychological WIN!
