We had an amazing #CommunityGarden event today with tonnes of locals and our government representatives from all levels! Councillors, the mayor, State member and Federal member!

What a great group of people!

We are still raising money for Stage 1 and need to get our paperwork through Council.

Any other community garden people out there?

@heatherpate yes! I’m in Melbourne and #communitygarden member at Braybrook Commons Community Garden. I was secretary for a few years when we transitioned from council run to not-for profit incorporated and community run. Hard work setting to all up. I’m just a member now but love the ability to gore more food, have working bees and communal activities and growing spaces. I’ve just moved plots to a raised wicking garden bed. (See the photo with white containers) other phot is my old bed.

@TaniaBishop wonderful! Thanks for sharing - that sounds awesome! We have been building our garden from scratch. It’s a massive job like you said, but we are getting there….!

@heatherpate pace yourselves, don’t get burnt out, I did! 😂 and get support and advice from your local council.
Early days are exciting. 6-7 yrs on we have a wait list and 3 times as many individual plots plus communal growing spaces, an orchard and plans for a greenhouse. All depends on finding members who are willing to take on different roles and projects. We have bbq’s after each committee meeting and most working bees. Good to socialise and have chance to swap veggies.
@TaniaBishop you’re right - it’s pretty full on right now! What a great idea combining the committee meeting with a bbq and veggie swap. It’s got to be fun, hey!
