Disinformation has long been a concern on social media. Musk's selling the blue tick makes Twitter more vulnerable to algorithm gaming by malign individuals, cashing in on the perception of legitimacy and the boost to visibility given by the blue tick. It's evidence that Musk neither understands how social media works, nor cares about his corporate responsibility to others.
@cazdoespolitics I think he bought it to close it down. The powerful and wealthy don’t want us to communicate. They are trying to control us as that is the only way they can hang on to their wealth.
@cazdoespolitics He’s had to shut Twitter Blue down. But it’s too late: when confidence is lost, it’s very difficult to get back. He will have to hire a professional CEO to run it and put some distance between himself and it if he wants any credibility to return.

@doctorcdf It's quite spectacular just how quickly he undermined Twitter. Musk is not the source of all the problems by any means, but he drove a vibrant community into the ground in days. That's almost impressive.

As for the future, I agree he will need to stand back and have someone else run it (who hopefully knows what they are doing) if it is to survive. I expect it will become somewhat like Telegram.

@cazdoespolitics agree Caz, it's all about money, sadly
@sarahann Indeed, the joys of capitalism. Something remotely successful or popular? Let's see how we can milk it to the max.
