Hello.

Does anyone have any podcast recommendations?

Thank you x

@matt What types/topics are you looking for?๐Ÿง
@torstenkathke Honestly I'm interested in any recommendations of what you enjoy. I like a variety and finding new areas to explore :)
@matt since you put crosswords as a profile interest may I recommend the History of English? Been going on for years and I always learn something new: https://historyofenglishpodcast.com
The History of English Podcast | The Spoken History of a Global Language

@torstenkathke Yes that's a great one - already subscribed in fact! Much appreciated
@matt Great! Sorry it wasnโ€™t new then though
@torstenkathke Oh no problem, good to know I've met someone with similar good taste! :D
@matt maybe Iโ€™ll think of another ๐Ÿ˜Š

@matt

1. Grim and Mild presents
2. Unobscured
3. Morbid
4. Redhanded

@wastedelegance Thanks so much for replying Lisa - they're on my list now, will have a go... ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘
@matt the rest is history and the rest is politics. Are my current favorites
@oddjob Hey thanks so much for replying. Yes I already listen to TRIP - will make an effort to listen to TRIH as well ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘
@matt itโ€™s worth the effort.
@oddjob @matt American History Hit is excellent
@matt I have been enjoying "Live like the world is dying" which is an anarchist prepper podcast hosted by a trans lady. Also "The Great Simplification" by Nate Hagens.
@artsyhonker Ooh that does sound interesting - thanks so much.
@matt anything with @Herring1967, Frank Skinner Show, No Such Thing as a Fish, The Bugle ... ?

@ethankenyontate Thanks yes I already have RHLSTP in my feed (didn't realise @Herring1967 was on here so that's good to know). Must admit I bailed on the Bugle when John left but my wife still subs to it (and NSTAAF) so I do hear snippets now and again.

Thank you so much for replying I really appreciate it.

@matt

We Have Ways of Making You Talk with Al Murray and James Holland is great if you like history and WW2. Lots of minutiae and laughs.

The Battersea Poltergeist; Uncanny; Wych Farm if you like ghost stories and scientists blaming everything on lack of sleep.

In Our Time for everything. I mean EVERYTHING

Ladykillers for some Victorian murder through a feminist lens.

Full Disclosure for in depth interviews by James O'brien. Excellent guests and proper questions.

Terrible Lizards for dinosaur geekery.

Video Archives for Quentin Tarantino in full film-nerd splendour.

The Price of Football for insights into the money behind football. Really interesting this one.

@JustAHumanMan Thanks so much! A few I know, a few I'd never heard of and outside my normal sphere. Much appreciated!
@matt I find these interesting and informative:
Byline Times,
The Bunker.
@patmackie Thanks v much - I've come across Byline Times before but not in podcast form. Much appreciated!
@matt I've been listening to Gone Medieval recently.

@matt so my comedy is the wittering Whitehall's... Sweeny talks I've enjoyed.. Happy place with Fern cotton. News agency is good too.
@Kirstyswm Brilliant, will definitely give them a go - thanks very much!
@matt 99% Invisible. Endlessly facinating, no drama, very soothing. They are stand alone too, so you can dip in of you like
@coldclimate Ah yes I know that one - brilliant stuff
@matt Origin Story, Decoder Ring, Slate Culture Gabfest
@spyglassbooks Thanks these are great - Decoder Ring seems especially interesting to me

@carlwolter Thanks Carl, all seem very interesting. Funnily enough I went to school with Tim Harford - he was a couple of years above me. I remember him being very talented even then!
@matt Empire - by William Dalrymple and Anita Anand. Every moment of it is fascinating.

@matt - apologies, I didn't realise links would shorten in post and not really show you titles. My bad.
@SaltiredPopcorn lol don't worry I am a patient man and will click on each one to check it out - thanks so much for taking the time ! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘
@matt I used to avoid podcasts. Now I listen to about 80 different ones. 80!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
@SaltiredPopcorn OK finally got subbed to them all! A couple I knew but lots that's new too, so thanks. So that first one is yours?
@matt - unfortunately . . . yes. We're not technically-minded, maybe an acquired taste, and there's a mix of accents between my Scots and my American co-hosts, but we try to discuss some movies, highlight gems occasionally, and not just go through the entire plot. Basically, I won't be offended if it's not one you enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜‚
@SaltiredPopcorn Haha well I'm open to anything :)
@matt full disclosure with James o'brien some brilliant interviews in that series
@wolfiem80 Yes that's a good one, thanks a lot!
@matt my favourites are The Rest Is Politics, Newsagents, History Hit. I also have my own called Action Packed Travel
@feliceski Thanks Felice, I'm already subbed to the others but I've put yours on my list now too!
@matt ooh. You probably sorrady know about Book Shambles - Robin Inceโ€™s one. But I also really love Grace Dentโ€™s Comfort Eating and Iโ€™m obsessed with Undisclosed, which started as a spin off to Serial and the Adnan Syed case but continues with other Innocence Projects.
@matt *already. Not sure about the over zealous autocorrect!
@sarahlady Brilliant, thanks mate!
@matt Allaboutagatha, Shedunnit, The Poisonerโ€™s Cabinet (if you like murderiness and cocktails - else these recommendations may not be suitable). More Or Less (analyses stats in the media), The Ancients (history podcast), Words To That Effect (about popular fiction), Fireside (storytelling podcast), Snoozefest (story extracts intended to help you sleep)
@OntologicalQ Ooh that words to that effect one looks really interesting! Will check these out -thanks!
