Oleg "Ole" R. 🇱🇹🇨🇦🇺🇦@dotto There's one (that I'm aware of that runs the initial default instance, maintained by a non-profit) and then there are thousands of self hosted instances that all connected between each other. So kinda no, no centralisation - your account lives in that server where you registered.
@questionable_ole Does that mean anybody can host a Mastodon server? I could make my private instance and be the only user without losing connection to the rest?
