I guess it’s time for an #introduction.

Don’t let my avi fool you. I am a now-over-40 cishet white man (he/him) who just liked Kodocha a lot when I was younger and Akito looks a bit like younger me. I am married and have 3 amazing kids.

I studied Physics and Philosophy in college, where my focus was on simulations and the origins of science in language formalization and foundational models of our world. So a lot to do with semantics, linguistics, and formal languages.

I also believe deeply in anti-abuse advocacy, having been a victim of childhood abuse myself. I see abuse as a cultural issue that goes beyond the narcissism and sociopathy of clinical anempathic disorders but is a necessity of colonialism and nationalism, and I see the rising white nationalism in terms of growing coalitions of abuse, including the classic bigotries (racism, sexism, queerphobia, xenophobia, ableism, …).
This informs my politics, which is deeply anti-hierarchy but falls in a health-oriented view of rightful collective action that is aligned more with Bookchin, social ecology, and classical liberal principles than anarchism-qua-anarchism (though I have a deep appreciation for the anarchopacifists like Tolstoy and Crass). I believe the rights-based notions of freedom are misguided and see health as the ultimate guide. I believe in direct democracy.
Artistically, I love the experimental and challenging, but also have a soft place for many works with popular appeal. Musically, I have loved Japanoise, IDM, anarchopunk, acid jazz, musique concrète, grindcore, drum n’ bass, gothic americana, throat singing of various origins, glitch, folk punk, Romantic period composition, flamenco, and many other genres. I like the glitch aesthetic and intentional flaws like the ch’ihónit’i of Navajo rugs or those common to Phulkari.

I now am a lead at a major operating system company and do scientific modeling, philosophical pieces, animation, musical composition, and mathematics in my spare time. Much of my personal work is focused on power, bigotry, bias, and the imperfect - including the personal work of trying to be a better person.

Also, clearly I am often long winded! So time to stop for now, but I hope this gives a taste of who I am and where I come from.
