I hate to beat a suffering horse, but it's important for you bleeding edgers to remind pioneers that this new digital frontier is the #Fediverse, not #Mastodon.
Mastodon is the currently popular covered wagon you can drive, but there are others already, and now that the #Fediverse is reaching a take-off point (courtesy of Musk and @Gargron's hard work), there will be many more to come. Mastodon is sure to be competitive with them. (Competition can be pivotal, and something Birdsite never had.)

Our online existences are much the same, I think.

Mastodon is very good at what it sets out to do but it is also limited in (and by) what it sets out to do.

The Fediverse, as a whole, has begun -- but only just -- to feel out what it takes to provide us with three balanced meals a day.
