PULLING A CHURCHILL
I dug into OurWorldInData data collections: globally, 2,977,583,853 people live on more than 5t/a consumption-based CO2. If their countries (54) one by one begin rationing before 2030, starting at the eq. of 5t/a per capita, their #CO2 will drop from 27Gt today to 15Gt by 2030.
Of the remaining 176 countries home to 4,735,229,930people, consumption-based CO2 data is only available for 64 more countries and their per capita C-B CO2 is below 5t. Eg., India or Romania.
The production-based CO2 of these 176 countries is reported with only 8Gt. But for their infrastructure and middle class lifestyles they import lots. And hence: they too can save lots by putting middle and upper income groups on rations.
Anyway. What I gleaned from the data excursion is that Pulling A Churchill, ie doing what the Brits did 1939-56, would be a huge improvement, emission-wise and wrt growing a culture of solidarity .
