BREAKING: The Amsterdam City Council is pushing for a ban on private jets at the city's airport. This would be a great success and set a precedent making it easier to #BanPrivateJets at other airports.
@StayGrounded_net please elaborate. What is your source? For one, the Amsterdam City Council has no power over Schiphol Airport, because its location is Haarlemmermeer. And because the airport is partly owned by the government I doubt any local counsil could decide this on its own.
@Tekstkok @StayGrounded_net Amsterdam owns 20% of Schiphol, so they certainly have some power. Not a lot, of course.
@ardaxi @StayGrounded_net you are ofcourse right, thank you for some extra nuance. I still think accounts like this should not post information that is on so many levels a tiny bit incorrect without a link as a source. But since Mastodon is a friendly environment, for Dutch readers: https://www.telegraaf.nl/nieuws/89436553/amsterdamse-raad-roept-op-tot-privejets-verbod (local council asks alderman to propose this to other parties around Schiphol)

@Tekstkok @StayGrounded_net I certainly agree that "the city's airport" is misleading, yes. Especially considering the massive political differences between Haarlemmermeer and Amsterdam, and because this is not something any local council can do.

"The Amsterdam City Council is asking the Dutch government for a ban" would be more appropriate.
