Kinda hard to watch people cheer on or shrug off the implosion of Twitter when, for a lot of us, it's our main source of work and a way to get the things we make seen by people we never would otherwise. Genuinely worried. Guess I'll just have to go back to selling art the traditional way, by charming a 17th century European monarch and being made the official court artist commissioned to paint his many mistresses as sexy nymphs in murals of Greek mythology
@Ciaraioch I can feel your frustration, going from more than 40k followers down to 8k (so far) and you are right, Mastodon will probably never be a suitable platform for most artists to promote and sell their work. In the long run though people might grow from this experience and make their businesses independent from massive centralised services (AKA one rich white guy) and this will hopefully result in taking back power and rethinking capitalism.
@Ciaraioch At least that is what I hope will happen. But the world is probably going to end by the time we got all that figured out. 🐒 Not what you wanted to read I’m afraid, sorry for that. At least I DID find you through Mastodon all on my own, so hope is not lost! 🙂
