I've received harassing messages accusing me of being a "scammer" and demanding that I stop updating the list. Some server admins are having private conversations about de-federating servers- these conversations have spilled into public view by mistake. The evidence is there.

I'd like to set up a quick conversation (perhaps offline) to get your thoughts on how I might be able to make the project in-line with existing Mastodon standards. I already have some potential solutions that would address concerns about link verification, for example. I could set up instances for individuals & organizations, etc.

I don't think there's a need to reply to Jeff like that, his point is correct.
Fediverse may not have a "leader", but in environments where there are no officially nominated leadership figures, or leaders defined by traditional positional titles, those with the respect of their peers and experience become leadership voices. To suggest just anyone's opinion can carry the weight of Gargron's, ignores how the real world works.

At no point in my reply did I place Eugene "on a pedestal", nor did I reduce the Fediverse to being the "brainchild of Eugene". All I said is that his opinion/voice carries weight - a point your own reply to me supports, whether you like that, or not.
You might like to think that everyone's opinion carries equal weight, but the real world shows you are demonstrably incorrect - even in environments with no designated leaders.
