@doot I want to get my thinkpad running again. it's almost thirty years old and can still boot a modern Linux kernel (for a little while longer)
@th @doot OMG - I have one of those in my basement. That telescoping butterfly keyboard with the original 'g spot' mouse was awesome! Was it really 30 years ago?
@mark the 701c was released in 1995, so twenty eight years ago.
@th Holy cow. Am I that old?
@th @doot I love Linux, it's on most of my systems that I don't need an app specific OS for... But this gorgeous beast deserves some FreeBSD...
@th @doot @selea Thinkpads are authentic battle horses. I have a 600e from the late β€˜90s. Still works.
@th @doot Never seen a laptop with a keyboard sticking out like that. Did they sell it like this, or is this a… β€œfix”? ;)
@th @doot yikes! what are the specs on that thing? If you are looking for distro suggestions, something light I like is #EliveLinux
@th @doot
Wow, that is really neat. The fly-out thinkpad was my first real work laptop! Brings back memories.
@th
You've made me think of an old gateway solo laptop that I think is still stashed away. It was second hand to me in the mid 90s and I wrote most of my PhD on it. I'm going to have to see if it'll cope with a modern Linux now.....
@doot
I am apparently now at an age where I have to care about ergonomics and I do not appreciate this.
