@hlseward : You said something powerful, though, This space is about finding a community - not an audience.

I love that.

And it has me wondering if there is a space for both Twitter and Mastodon in my digital life.

Maybe I'll come here for shared thinking and stay over there for simple sharing.

Thanks for thinking alongside me.

@plugusin @[email protected] hi both, it's already apparent that a small number of popular tweeters are quickly crowding the airwaves. I'm trying hard to avoid boosting those accounts (and those boosting them), and I guess the other side is to pause and reply to thoughts like this.

@silentfp @hlseward : It's such an interesting point, Chris. Do heavy Tooters crowd the space, stifle conversation, and change how people perceive "standing"?

And how do we prevent that?

For me personally, that's always been a function of asking questions and responding thoughtfully to encourage conversation.

But is that enough? And how do we make it a common pattern of participation in this space?

#worthasking

@plugusin @[email protected] for myself, I'm trying to create my own space as a rolling series of conversations in a party where I can drop into one or several groups that give me something to think about and avoid the most attention seeking groups most of the time; inevitably more folk will spin off and get drawn into celebrity orbit but I think that's ok.

@silentfp @hlseward : I dig the notion of "a series of rolling conversations."

I want to start thinking about my own participation here in that same way - and maybe more importantly, describing this space in that way to others.

Perhaps framing that way to others will help to make it the norm for the space.

Thanks for sharing that šŸ‘Š.

@silentfp @plugusin @hlseward I’m all about chats with others and avoiding the celebs
