What else can they do but strike?

Regarding nurses industrial action, I expect the gov to spew out lots of misleading figures and to say things like ‘now is not the time’. Solidarity ✊🏻
@gem_abbott absolutely. Solidarity to all taking action ✊
@gem_abbott cue day after day of misinformation and dog whistling from the usual suspects… Harwood, Ferrari JHB, Pearson and the rest. The only fact we need to know is that nurses have never done this before. This is a sign of their desperation to feel valued enough to stay, their desire to protect their patients and keep them safe, to be able to provide the standard of care they deserve in the face of a 12 year attack on the institution they love
UK: Royal College of Nursing votes to strike

If the strike is to be won, or even to go ahead at all, independent rank-and-file committees must be built to lead the struggle. Left in the hands of the RCN apparatus, it will be defeated.

@gem_abbott thank you, none of us in the profession take they prospect of strike action lightly. Patient safety is our first priority but enough is enough, we can't go on like this.
@gem_abbott they should give the nurses whatever they want

2010 - when the current regime came to power in WM, with the intention of ending the NHS.

And not like its an easy, low skill or even low demand job. Anyone who thinks so should try doing it.

We all need care sooner or later, and we should really want those people that have to do it to be well trained and well compensated for the essential job that they do, for the good of that care.

@gem_abbott it's so frustrating hearing Sunak keep saying he's on the side of working people and but not on the side of strikers.

Like who does he think is striking??

(Yes, I know they're probably being deliberately disingenuous when doing that, it still annoys me to no end)

But the usual right wing suspects don't think they deserve it but were cheering the 45% tax rate being proposed to be cut to 40% during the short lived Truss government.
